Biography
Vesna Jaksic is a Civil Engineer specialising in design, testing, and monitoring of structures, a Lecturer in the Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Department, MTU, and Adjunct Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering, UCD. She was a Visiting Professor at the School of Engineering, The University of Edinburgh (2019-2021). Her main teaching activities are in the area of Structural Analysis and Structural Design.
Working as a project engineer, Vesna contributed to design and delivery of structural projects in a range of different industries. Before joining MTU she was a Senior Post-Doctoral researcher in the MaREI centre, UCC, where she contributed to the ‘MRE Technologies’ and ‘Materials and Structures’ Research Divisions. She was awarded Teagasc Walsh Fellowship (2002-2004) for her work with Irish Environmental Protection Agency on GHG sequestration in Agricultural sector, IRCSET PhD scholarship (2010-2013) on the topic of Structural Dynamics, and SFI Advance Award (2015-2017) for her work in the application of composite materials to offshore renewable marine structures.
During her research carrier she produced publications, participated in conferences, and contributed to numerous projects, such as CoFoRD Programme, STRIVE Programme 2007-2013, LEANWIND EU FP7, as a Co-ordinator on MARINCOMP EU FP7 (Marie Curie IAPP programme), FLOTEC H2020 project, and various industry collaboration projects. Vesna is currently working on “Innovative testing and analysis of load characteristics of floating ORE Technologies” project funded by MaREI (SFI) and “Structural integrity assessment of decommissioned Wind Turbine Blades (WTB)”, WP6 WindLEDeRR project funded by SEAI.
