Biography
Sean is a Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer with over 10 years industry experience working both nationally and internationally in the structural design and contract management of structures across a range of sectors including offsite, modular and civil infrastructure including bridges. In 2009, Sean obtained his Masters by Research through funding provided by Vision Modular Structures (VMS) for work relating to the structural testing and FEA Analysis of novel steel to concrete balcony brackets.
Since joining MTU, Sean has joined the SIRIG research group to pursue his research interests which include structural testing, FEA Analysis, BIM, Digital Construction and Emerging Disruptive Technologies. His current research projects include Drones4VET, an Eramus+ funded project which aims to create a European wide curriculum for both students and educators in the use of drones for construction related activities.
Sean is an active member of CitA and has chaired a number of Regional events. In 2021, he was the lead Author of a research paper which won the best academic paper award at the CitA BIM Gathering which focused on utilising visual scripting for design automation in structural engineering.
