Biography

Brian O Rourke is a Chartered Engineer of almost thirty years’ experience in academia and the concrete industry. He started his career as a design and quality control engineer in the precast and ready-mix concrete industries in Ireland, where he gained significant experience that he brings to his academic teaching and research as a Lecturer, Researcher and Course Coordinator in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering in Cork Institute of Technology. He is the Chair of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) Concrete Standards Consultative Committee responsible for Irish national standards relating to concrete and related products. As a former Chair of the Irish Concrete Society (ICS) he oversaw the development of The Concrete Ticket training course for site operatives. He is the current Chair of the Education Sub-Committee of the ICS responsible for the quality and development of the courses offered by the Society.
