Biography

Kieran is a Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer with over 26 years’ experience in the design, procurement and contract management of civil and structural engineering works of all scales.   He is currently a lecturer at Munster Technological University.   He is a former Director with RPS Consulting Engineers where he was responsible for civil design services across a range of disciplines.  Kieran led the civil design delivery of some significant infrastructure projects for public sector clients over many years including Mizen Head Bridge, M8 Raith Junction Upgrade, Scotland, Ballincollig Bypass, Haulbowline Island Remediation and M50 South Eastern Motorway.  

Kieran was Chairperson of the Institution of Structural Engineers (Republic of Ireland Region) in 2018 and 2019 and is President of Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland for 2021 and 2022.  Kieran’s research interests include bridge engineering and management, infrastructure asset management and computational modelling.  His current research projects include Re-Wind which seeks to find uses for end of life wind-turbine blades; MODCONS which is examining modular construction using Irish cross-laminated timber and a number of Enterprise Ireland feasibility studies for Irish SME’s
