Biography:
Brano Batel is currently a researcher on the Science Foundation Ireland funded project, EirBLADE. The EirBLADE project aims to create a national repository of decommissioned wind turbine blades and link it directly to wind turbine blades reuse in civil engineering and other applications.
He previously held a research position on the EU Interreg North West Europe funded project, SURICATES from 2018 to 2023. The SURICATES project aimed to increase sediment use for erosion and flood protection in river, estuarine and coastal environments.
Non-academic experience includes site civil engineering and various positions on an offshore gas field platform.
He holds a MEng in Civil Engineering from Munster Technological University, completing his thesis on the ‘Beneficial Use of Contaminated Dredged Sediment’.
