The Sustainable Infrastructure Research & Innovation Group (SIRIG) is recognised as a formal research group in the Munster Technological University (MTU) Research Ecosystem. SIRIG was originally formed by a number of researchers with an interest in sustainable infrastructural development in the broad context of the Built and Physical Environments. SIRIG is located on the Bishopstown Campus of MTU-Cork under the ‘umbrella’ of the School of Building & Civil Engineering and has grown substantially in recent years and includes researchers from across the disciplines of Architecture and related areas, Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering and the Built Environment. Our focus is on the assessment, development and delivery of sustainable infrastructure across Structures & Infrastructure, Environment & Energy, Wellness in the Built Environment and Digitisation for Architecture, Engineering & Construction. Our research is aligned with MTU policy and the UN Sustainability Goals. We are involved in a wide range of research projects, both national and international and we collaborate with research institutions, Universities and industry worldwide.
